The novel takes place between 1890 and 2004. All characters are fictional, except for famous public figures who naturally belong to the story.

With the growth of the garment industry in Sunnmøre/Møre og Romsdal as a backdrop, from home industry to modern industry, we follow four generations of the Nornås family in what develops into a dramatic novel.

The wanderer and fiddler Ulf, nicknamed Ulven, has made a pact with the key. He takes us into the occult when he plays his Dubbeldäckare (Scanian hard fiddle).

The novel is a journey through time and place, where the characters live their lives in the real world, and where the story reflects multiple layers. From Isfjorden in Rauma, the time journey takes in places such as Ålesund, Molde, Kristiansund, Trondheim, Kabelvåg and Hamarøy.

A world war and several city fires pose challenges to Ålesund and Molde, but also to the Nornås family.

Son of Ulf, Gunnar experiences a rapid development in terms of clothing, but also in terms of life, prosperity and love.

In the final part, we follow Gunnar and Alaug’s children and grandchildren in an increasingly tough everyday life.

Fourth generation, Elise – the Rive Girl – experiences much loss and betrayal. Undeniably leaving its mark on her and her life in the modern world.

The novel is, in all its behavior, action, and conversations, pure fiction.

I have been fortunate enough to have had great support in my work on my debut novel in my family.
